CORE-TIET envisages linkages with the industries for contract/ sponsored research, extension activities as well as in development of academic interactions. It has tie ups with industries like Pepsico India Holdings Private Ltd., McCain Foods, Mahindra Agribusiness, Ballarpur Industries Limited, National Aluminum company Limited (NALCO) and also with entrepreneurs, small farmer groups and nurseries.
CORE-TIET has been involved in supplying of planting material to the above industries. The products which have been developed are categorized as forestry species, fruits, vegetable, medicinal plants and flowers.
With Pepsico Indian Holdings we have a decade old association in providing quality seed material of potatoes i.e micro and mini tubers which are used for manufacturing of chips in the brand name of Frito Lays. Similarly for McCain Foods we are providing the seed material of potatoes for their processed potato based food products. Mahindra Agribusiness is involved in in taking quality seed material of potatoes for export to other countries. Eucalyptus clones have been prepared for pulp and paper industry with BILT and for plantation purpose to other State Forest Departments. Disease free clonal rootstocks of Apple have been developed for orchard growers at Himachal Pradesh as well as for progressive farmers.
TIFAC-CORE at TIET envisions collaborations, contract research and sponsored research from industry/ state government as well as academia besides interdisciplinary support in TIET educational and research programs.
