Dr. Shruti Sharma
Dr. Shruti Sharma is an Associate Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering. She joined Thapar Institute of Engineering & Technology as Lecturer in 2004. She is a Gold-Medallist in B.Tech (Bachelors in Civil Engineering) as well as her M.E (Masters in Structural Engineering). She was awarded INAE (Indian National Academy of Engineering) Award for Best Doctoral Thesis in 2011. She has been the Principal Investigator of various research projects sponsored by Govt. of India agencies like AICTE (All India Council of Technical Council), DST (Department of Science and Technology), UGC (University Grants Commission) and NRB (Naval Research Board) amounting to more than 100 lakhs. Her areas of research include health monitoring of infra-structures, sustainability of concrete and application of nano-materials in civil engineering applications. She has more than 30 publications to her credit out of which 15 are SCI indexed. Her H-index is 6 (June 2017). She was given a “Letter of Appreciation by DST” for her wonderful contribution to corrosion monitoring in reinforced concrete structures in a research project. She has developed a “Structural Health Monitoring Laboratory” which has all the latest Non-Destructive Test set-ups (Acoustic Emission, Infra- Red Thermography, Ultrasonic P-R systems, Fibre-Optic sensing technology etc.) which is one of its kind in North India.
